In DecemberOfcom (the Office of Communications) announced a Strategic Review of Telecommunications (the 'Telecoms Review'), to take place throughout The Review is taking a broad look at the workings of the UK telecoms sector.

This document summarises the main elements of the review that Ofcom is conducting into the UK’s digital communications markets. This is our first strategic assessment of the telecommunications sector in ten years and only the second since Ofcom was established.

The Review will enable us to set out a strategic direction for our activities in relation to telecoms, and will create a new settlement between the regulator, the companies we regulate and the citizen-consumer.

The Review seeks to answer the five fundamental questions which are set out at the start of the Executive Summary of this document. On 18 Novemberthe Office of Communications (Ofcom) launched Phase 2 of its strategic review of the telecommunications sector.
